One thing about my own writing that I thought of while reading David Foster Wallace's thoughts was the idea of connecting things, both to each other, and back to the introduction and why it is all important. I think I am okay at connecting different arguments within a piece of writing, but often lose the connection to the opening, the "larger, overriding purpose."
"One measure of how good the writing is is how little effort it requires for the reader to track what’s going on."
I agree with what he said about writing being good when it is easy to read, this is part of the reason why I don't like lots of more philosophical or esoteric pieces of writing because they often seem to get so caught up in fancy writing and things that it makes it harder to read.
I like that you picked this quote to focus on because being able to connect to the larger message with multiple points is essential to having a successful argument.
