Connor's Poems

To the person on the left, a limerick:

The world is gearing up for a fight
When nothing ever seems to go right
To kill is a sin
We're all the same skin
Peace survives if you stand for what's right

And an additional villanelle
From adversity, we learn to stand high
Gathered around the path of dreams and hope
We would link arms together as a friend and ally

Threats isolate us and force us to fortify
Some falter, some collapse, some only cope
From adversity, we learn to stand high

The world will always have a place to decry
A country where dissidents could choose chair or rope
We would link arms together as a friend and ally

Stuck in detention, in jail, a government pigsty
Together we're stronger to fight and not mope
From adversity, we learn to stand high

Your flowers are what will be history's reason why
Peace came with people, and not in the crossfire of a scope
We would link arms together as a friend and ally

We will survive if we are the change, and we do more than try
Each battle will challenge, grow, and slope
From adversity, we learn to stand high
We would link arms together as a friend and ally
