Unless you have developed
the capacity to feel some poetry deeply,
to discriminate between
good and bad,
great and good,
good and half-good,
any judgements you make will be worthless.
We can judge the total poem
only as the elements work together to form
an integrated whole.
How fully has this purpose been accomplished?
